A: Well, yes! Yes, it can.
Think back to ye olden days – before we were hyper connected via social channels. You there? OK, so if you needed a lawyer, how could you go about finding one? Phone book. Ask a trusted friend. Word of mouth (WOM).
WOM is alive and well today, but much to our hyper-connected advantage we have many opportunities to influence it. You can share shareable info that then gets traded about thereby influencing WOM. And remember if you don’t believe in marketing – not advertising!, but marketing – to influence WOM, no worries you’re competition will take advantage of the lead you’re giving them.
Listen up doctors, lawyers, executive coaches… Some of you are going to get way more WOM referrals than others. And now you know why.
